Clinic Care
The Clinic is one of the major components of the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine. The Clinicians at the Clinic are trained and knowledgeable in both western biomedicine and TCM. The principles and techniques of these two medical systems are integrated within a clinical environment as acupuncturists and medical doctors work in unison at all stages of patient care and management.
We are committed to providing compassionate, effective, and accessible care to patients of all social and economic backgrounds. We regularly treat those patients with especially challenging health problems at the Clinic. Many suffer from painful and often chronic conditions such as soft tissue pain (especially in the neck, back, shoulder, hip, and knee), fibromyalgia, neuralgia, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, interstitial cystitis, sinus problems, women's health issues including migraines, headaches, and even emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression.
To optimize patient care, clinicians at the Center individualize the course of treatment for each patient and may include trigger point injections, acupuncture, massage, herbal dietary advice as well as medication adjustment. The clinicians will also discuss lifestyle changes that are essential in improving the patient’s condition and overall health. In addition, patients may be instructed in Tai-Chi and Qi-Gong exercises, stretching exercises, and acupressure in order to complement the treatment they are receiving at the Clinic. These forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine practice are then combined with more conventional medical care in order to best serve the patient's needs.
