Education in Integrative Medicine

The Center is involved with the Education Working Group of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine. The principal focus of the Education Working Group is to incorporate the field of integrative medicine into the curriculum of medical schools throughout the country. The Center’s 4th Year Course is included as an education model at UCLA.

January 28, 2008  The Science of CAIM: What’s Next for Complementary, Alternative and
Integrative Medical Research? The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and the UCLA Center for East West Medicine co-sponsored a colloquium on future directions for CAIM research. The Colloquium featured distinguished speakers on both sides of the issue, supporters and skeptics. Click HERE for conference podcast.

October 28, 2006  Advances in Integrative East-West Medicine: A Fifty-Year Perspective The UCLA Center for East-West Medicine hosted a conference featuring a keynote presentation by world-renowned scholar Professor Chen Keji. The conference was held at UCLA’s Jules Stein Auditorium.
 
Professor Chen is one of the most prominent pioneers of integrative East-West medicine in China. He is Academician of the China Academy of Sciences, President of the China Association of Integrative Medicine, President of the China Association of Geriatrics, and is the Wallis Annenberg Visiting Professor in Integrative East-West Medicine.

Two of Dr. Chen’s protégés also presented. Dr. Hao Xu, Associate Professor, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Beijing discussed “Advances in East-West Geriatrics Research in China” and Dr. Jun Song, Associate Professor, Xiyun Hospital, Beijing presented on “Advances in Research in Integrative East-West Cardiovascular Medicine in China.”
