On April 20, 2004, we were honored to have Jackie Chan and his colleagues pay a visit to the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine (CEWM). Dr. Hui, the Center’s Director, delivered a presentation that included how he came to be interested in integrative medicine, the history of the Center, the Center as it is today, and the kinds of patients who have been helped and others who could be helped by CEWM’s model of integrative care. Jackie demonstrated great interest in our ability to solve difficult health problems, including chronic pain, and voiced his support for the Center. As Jackie met and generously took pictures with the staff and faculty of the Center for East-West Medicine, he made plans for further discussions with us on his subsequent visits to Los Angeles. We welcome his leadership and partnership in making healthcare to be safe and effective.
